Stacey Solomon left her home town of Dagenham in Essex, a single mother, with a very big dream.

And now Stacey Solomon was greeted upon her return to the Essex heartland as a heroine after making it to the final three, and within touching distance of winning the coveted X

Factor crown. Stacey, 20, was reunited with 18-month-old  Zachary as she returned to her home in Dagenham with mentor Dannii Minogue.

But before she could get inside for a proper reunion with Zach and her family, she had to negotiate her many fans.
A crowd of well-wishers thronged around the singer, crowned the ‘Dagenham Diva’ by the X Factor judges, as she signed autographs, a novelty she will probably have to get used to.

The 20-year-old, the only girl left in the competition alongside Olly Murs and Joe McElderry, is tipped to be the X Factor’s ‘next Leona’.

A show insider told Now magazine that Simon Cowell is set on making Stacey a star and is ‘convinced that she has the right mix of personality, looks and talent and vulnerability that’ll make a natural successor to Leona.

Her performance of Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel last weekend, when she showed a sexier side wearing a tuxedo jacket, trilby hat and not much else, divided the judges opinions.

Cowell said it was the wrong choice of song, branding the performance “gimmicky and silly”.

But Olly, 25, had different ideas and has been giving Stacey the not-so-subtle brush-off by declaring his love for any other girl but her.

Days before the final, Olly revealed he was falling for 22-year-old Sianad Gregory, a backing dancer on the show, saying: ‘She’s got nice long legs – she’s really hot.’

When asked if Sianad knew about his feelings, he replied: ‘She doesn’t, but when she reads this she will.’

A source tells Now: ‘This isn’t very pleasant for Stacey, who’s really fragile when it comes to relationships. It takes a lot to build up her trust.

‘Olly kept telling the whole world how much he loved her, but when she responded, he backtracked on it.’

Olly’s tried to play down talk that he’s a womaniser, saying: ‘Getting female attention is always great, but I’m rubbish with the ladies.’

But The X Factor runner-up certainly knows how to turn on the charm.

After splitting with his girlfriend of eight months Keli Flower, 23, at the start of The X Factor, he romanced Laura Henderson of Project A at boot camp before turning his attentions to Stacey.

Now it’s claimed that Olly texted Laura, 21, in the lead-up to the final to arrange for her to be there for him. Insiders say the pair have secretly been speaking on the phone throughout.

Stacey, 20, who came third in the show, said Dannii was feeling broody after falling in love with her 18-month-old lad.

And she reckons the nine months before the next series would be the perfect time for judge Dannii to start a family, just like Xtra Factor host Holly Willoughby did last year.

 Stacey – who wore a dazzling black and white tassled dress for the X Factor wrap party in London – told TV Biz: “When Dannii came round to my house she was playing with Zach and he loved her. She’s great with kids.”

Dannii, 38, is ready to settle down with ex-rugby player boyfriend Kris Smith. She has told fans: “I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve found the guy.” She is in Oz for Christmas with Kris, sister Kylie and her family, but vowed to keep in touch with Stacey.

The Essex girl, who raised money for Great Ormond Street hospital by singing karaoke with fans at Gatwick Airport yesterday, said: “Dannii told me to just enjoy everything as it’s happening.”

The contestant, who finished in third place on this year’s series, admitted that she was overwhelmed standing on stage with Olly Murs and eventual winner Joe McElderry.

“I just got a bellyache and needed a poo, if I’m honest. But I held it in and then the poo feeling went and it was so much fun,” she told Heat.

“The final was so scary. I was just thinking, ‘I so hope it’s not me’. But I knew that anything could happen.”

Solomon went on to deny rumours that she was having a relationship with fellow contestant Murs.

“There’s only so many times I can say I’m not going out with him,” she said. “I’m not girlfriend material. I’m a geek. I wish I was going out with Peter Andre, though, or Aston from JLS.”

She said: “I want to win this for Zach – it would mean everything. I try not to think about him in case I get upset and it affects my performance.”

Stacey, 20, also admitted that as the final weeks of ‘The X Factor‘ progress and more acts are eliminated, she gets increasingly nervous and worried about appearing on the show.

She added to the Daily Star newspaper: “I get a bellyache and I want to poo! Before I go on I’m like, ‘Oh no, that’s it, I need to poo!

“But you can’t do anything, you need to hold it in and then you’re like, ‘phew’ and the poo feeling goes away.”

Stacey – who is third favourite with bookmakers to win the show – also said she finds it difficult waiting a full day to find out the results of the show, and if she is one of the acts in the dreaded bottom two, who have to sing against each other for survival in the competition.

She added: “Waiting for your name is the worst. As it gets closer you think, ‘I’m going to be in the bottom two’ and that’s the scariest, I really don’t want to have to sing for survival.”

X Factor reject Lucie Jones today backed Stacey Solomon to win the talent contest.

 Jones, 18, performed in front of hundreds of fans in her home town of Cardiff after she was knocked out of the competition on Sunday.

Judge Simon Cowell refused to make a call between her and twins John and Edward and put it to the public vote to see who should stay.

Before performing four songs today in front of her cheering supporters, Jones defended Cowell’s decision to take the vote to “deadlock”, even though it meant she was kicked out of the running.

She said: “I don’t really think it was a cop-out. He made the valid point he didn’t think either John and Edward or I could win so if he had picked me over the others it would have been for the wrong reason.”

ITV and broadcasting regulator Ofcom have received thousands of complaints about Cowell’s decision to back “Jedward” but Jones said the public reaction was “bizarre”.

She added: “I’m in the middle of it, it’s all going on around me but it doesn’t really get to me.

“I’m just watching it and it’s quite funny, it seems quite surreal.”

She denied Cowell had allowed her to get the chop to strengthen the chances of his own acts, Danyl Johnson, Olly Murs and Jamie Archer.

Jones said: “At the end of the day, whoever wins signs to him and is his act so he makes the money. Whoever wins, he wins.”

Despite this, she said she would give Cowell the boot if the tables were turned and she was allowed to vote off one of the judges.

“I just like the other three more than him,” she said.

Now she’s out of the running, Jones says she is backing Stacey Solomon, the only contestant remaining in the under-25 girls category, mentored by Dannii Minogue.

She said: “I think Stacey will win, I want her to win. I shared a room with her and we got really close. I could speak to her about anything.”

The student said she would also miss fellow Welsh contestant Lloyd Daniels, but denied rumours of a romance between the pair.

“I’m going to miss Lloyd. If there was anything wrong he was the one I would speak to but there’s nothing going on between us,” she said.

She added the highlight of the competition was her relationship with her mentor Minogue and said she was the judge she most wanted feedback from.

“I always wanted to hear from Dannii,” the teenager said. “She’s the best mentor, the most hands-on. She really got to know us and that’s why it worked so well.

“She really wanted us to be comfortable with everything, rather than look the best. If the shoes looked good but weren’t comfortable she would take them off us.”

She added her dream would be to collaborate with singer Michael Buble, who mentored the contestants during “Big Band Week”.

Jones said: “I would love to work with him again, he’s an amazing vocalist and an incredible performer.”

One said: “I know she used to go to King Solomon School.
She parties every night at Faces. She always tries to be surrounded by guys.”

Another wrote: “She’s trying for the sympathy vote just because she’s got a kid. Who does she think she is?”

Brave Stacey, who juggles being a mum to 17-month-old Zachary with working in a bar and her musical theatre studies, vowed to win the show for her child.

The girl from Dagenham, Essex said: “If I won I’d be able to get Zachary into a good school. I’m determined to be the one that provides for my son.”

Stacey is among William Hill’s favourites to win at 14-1, behind Danyl Johnson, 27, on 2-1

This short video clip was filmed during the final stages of X Factor bootcamp week. The final 50 acts performed in front of a 2000 strong crowd at the Hammersmith Apollo London.

This means we know Stacey at least got this far in the competition. So close to the judges houses stage! Lets hope she goes all the way!
